TUNE Wylderness - 72 & Sunny
Wylderness are set to release their new single ‘72 & Sunny’ via their own Succulent Recordings on 1st Dec taken from their upcoming 2018 album. ‘72 & Sunny’ is highly notable track since it has already achieved upfront US TV airplay from stateside sync deals.
Wylderness are a new band from Cardiff and London. Over the past twelve months they've written their eponymous debut album–due for release in early 2018 – recording it with acclaimed indie producer Rory Attwell (Veronica Falls, Telegram, Palma Violets).
New track ‘72 & Sunny’ is woozy sun-drenched indie and mesmerising shoegaze neatly rolled into one. Speaking of the track, the band said, “This was one of the first songs we wrote back when we were practising in a tiny rehearsal space in Cardiff. We wanted to make a noisy three minute pop song inspired by a mixture of Diiv, My Bloody Valentine and Ride. The lyrics look at the Welsh exodus to Patagonia from two people’s perspectives – one who thought the adventure would be fraught with danger and that it would be better to stay at home, and another who had a more idealistic and romantic vision of a South American utopia.”
Following a licensing deal with Bleed 101 Music in Los Angeles, Wylderness have already gained six sync deals in the US during 2017. Two of these have been for lead single ‘72 & Sunny’ (The Flash and The Fosters), and four for forthcoming album tracks ‘On A Dais’ (Vampire Diaries and Teen Mom), ‘Daisy Street’ and ‘So’ Pre-empt (both Teen Mom).
Based on the strength of an early demo, Wylderness have played Swn Festival in Cardiff and have supported acts such as Pinkshinyultrablast and legendary Japanese psychedelic rockers Acid Mothers Temple.
