TUNE Springfield Elementary - Doctor, Doctor
Given the current state of affairs, Springfield Elementary’s new single ‘Doctor, Doctor’ couldn’t have come at a better time.
A live fan-favourite, and following form with a signature quirky bass, catchy yet thought-provoking lyricism & a captivating spoken breakdown, the band continue their drive upward as a breath of fresh-air within an indie-dominated scene.
Talking about new single ’Doctor, Doctor’, frontman Billy Goodwin details that the track ‘was written after years of mental health struggles and the hopeless feeling that comes from living within a relentlessly individualistic and selfish society. It is more anthemic than our other stuff, a sort of ballad for the battered mind with a slight dash of optimism. I wrote this song ages ago, and recorded it well before the lockdown was implemented, but I think it definitely reflects a lot of people's moods right now. I think the COVID-19 epidemic has been especially difficult for people living with mental health issues, and I hope they find strength and solace in this song (or at least relatability to know their anxieties aren’t alone).’
Merging their favourite sounds from the last 50 years of Punk and Psychedelia, Springfield Elementary met out of a mutual passion for self-expression and desire to make a distinctive mark within a city steeped in musical history. With ‘a real penchant for the pulse of punk’, Manchester is waking up to the band’s sonially-experimental ethos having played National new music showcases including Off The Record Festival, Dot to Dot and Mission Mars’ Stay Fresh Showcase as excitement for the band begins to take-off.
