TUNE Josin - In The Blank Space (Roosevelt Remix)
the new Roosevelt Remix of Josin’s “In The Blank Space” brings a fresh and uplifting spin on the immersive original. It is another great rework from acclaimed artist and DJ Roosevelt, whose sought-after production skills have also seen him taking on remix duties for the likes of CHVRCHES, Glass Animals and Rhye, as well as gaining a huge worldwide fanbase for his own releases.
“In the Blank Space” originally featured on Josin's debut album of the same name which was released earlier this year, her rich alternative pop sound - fusing classical piano, intensely emotive vocals and experimental electronic elements - proving a hit with tastemakers and fans alike. Widespread radio support for the project includes BBC 6Music’s Lauren Laverne and Gideon Coe, John Kennedy (Radio X), Phil Taggart (BBC R1), and Worldwide FM.
Producer Roosevelt has reimagined the song to create an uplifting soundtrack for balmy summer evenings. This collaboration follows a stint on tour together for the two German artists who have found in each other’s complementary musical styles a creative kinship.
Josin says: ''I feel like the remix brings out the positive message about the song, which is more hidden in my version. I love the sound textures and how he modulates harmonically around the vocal line. I am honoured to have such a talented musician remix the track that I’m holding so dear.” >>>
Roosevelt elaborates: “It was great having Josin with us on tour a while ago, and it was a lot of fun remixing her latest single. It was challenging to bring it towards my sound, as the original is a really ambient song with a complex rhythmic structure. Turns out Josin’s voice coupled with my production merges to a really luscious vibe.”
It has been an eventful few years for Josin (AKA Arabella Rauch), a promising medical student who quit her studies to fully dedicate herself to the pursuit of music as a full-time occupation. “I quickly realised both music and medicine needed a 200% commitment and that was a long-time inner struggle. Music won! I think what brought me to this decision, was knowing that I could never listen to music again if I didn’t do it in this life or at least try.”
A spellbinding performer, Josin is now ready to bring her project out on the road in the UK in the Autumn. In addition to her own tour, she has been booked to support Ry X at the Royal Albert Hall, as well as being handpicked by Ólafur Arnalds (a big fan, and a previous remixer of her work) to play at his highly-anticipated OPIA Festival, Southbank Centre.
