TUNE Shopping - Wild Child
Shopping release new single ‘Wild Child’ via Fat Cat Records on 19th January taken from forthcoming album ‘The Official Body’ (also 19th January).
‘Wild Child’, a dancey number led by Billy Easter’s sweeping bassline, examines the fragility of the façade of one’s idols and their difficulty in keeping up with the charade themselves.
“I was specifically thinking about the way some drag queens do this really well,” explains Aggs, “It’s about projecting the persona of someone who is always free, always partying and you can’t imagine them ever worrying about their work rota or buying cereal.”
“It’s important to see through it, to know it’s fake, but at the same time, it’s so intriguing and seductive. I think this anarchic, flamboyant spirit is really important to queer culture”.
“Shopping at its best: barbed invective set to a prickly, dance floor-ready groove.” - Pitchfork
“One of Shopping’s loosest, funkiest songs to date.” NPR Music
“As socially conscious and angry as it is fun…extremely exciting things to come from the band’s third album.” - DIY
