TUNE Hotel Lux - Envoi
Formed in early 2016, very little is known about the young 5 piece. However, in the short time they have been playing together they have already perked the ears of a select few in the know. Debut offering, ‘Envoi’ instantly grabbed us when we were tipped off about them just a few months ago and we weren’t the only ones. Matt Wilkinson over at Beats One was quick to champion them on his show and we’re sure many more will swiftly jump on the bandwagon once they hear them and catch a live show.
“Envoi” was produced by the band’s guitarist, Sam, in lead singer, Lewis’ shed which is now covered in moulding food, empty bottles and ‘the rotting remains of our integrities palled with the occasional rodent’. It adds up - there is an air of squalor and angst coming from the depths of London’s youth here. You sense that they’re not happy with the state of the world, and they’re not going to hold back telling everyone exactly how it is. It’s essentially a Blues track with all the trappings of classic punk sensibilities. This is a band that are extremely relevant and have the voice of modern youth coming through their music regarding the current collective political and social frustrations experienced up and down the country.
Hotel Lux have been one of the most exciting new acts we’ve had the pleasure of catching live recently and you can still count the live shows they’ve played on two hands, yet they have already made a big impression. Following their first show they have been invited to support some of London’s most exciting, hotly tipped and buzz acts on the scene including, HMLTD, Shame, Goat Girl, Tangerines and Fish.
