TUNE Apothek - Waiting For The Thunder (Jaakko Eino Kalevi rework ft. Jófríður/Samaris)
Norwegian duo Apothek today reveal a stunning rework of their acclaimed single ‘Waiting For The Thunder’. It’s an “existential brood” celebrated by the likes of Noisey, The Guardian, The Line of Best Fit and Q Magazine, with the latest reincarnation calling on the collective prowess of Jaakko Eino Kalevi and Samaris frontwoman Jófríður Ákadóttir.
As far as Nordic collabs go, this one takes some beating – with Finland’s Kalevi at the helm, masterfully splicing the voice of Icelandic collective Samaris with the original vocal of Apothek’s Morten Myklebust. "I wanted to make a remix that would be more raw and also thought Jófri’s voice would fit perfectly to the song's monumental feel,” Kalevi explains. “Kylie Minogue's 'Slow' inspired me a lot."
The rework signals the release of Apothek’s ‘Waiting For The Thunder’ Remix EP – out this Friday, May 13 via Propeller Recordings. The EP also includes a stripped-back live version, recorded in an old factory building that hosted Norway’s rave community in the 90s, and an alternative remix from Apothek’s own Nils Martin Larsen. It follows the duo’s debut single of 2015, ‘Family’.
