Feb 2010 Chillout by Phil Hook comments
This is great. Can you get the music player to play one track after another without having to click on them in turn? Am I missing something obvious?
Really like it phil, there is loads of really good tunes in here! Thanks for using one of mine... It's a privaledge to be amongst some great names on here! I think this sort of playlist should be on from about 10-12pm every night... Just as I go to sleep, I love to chillout when I'm sleepy, just focussing on the music, the gradual buildups etc... I think I'll definately get the headphones out for this one, there are some great panning FX in some of these tunes... :) Let me know where and when and if it goes out! Good work! Chris.
My first chillout playlist. I've picked a range of styles and tracks, some obvious, some less so, but all intriguing in their own way. The only criteria I set myself was that the listener should be able to immerse themself in a track and be able to almost shut out what is going on in the world outside. Those expecting 2 hours of ambient strings, soulfull vocals and an absence of drums will be in for a culture shock; whereas some tracks fall into this category others have swirling keyboards, drum and bass beats, complex breaks and even the electric guitar makes an appearance here and there. Ultimately, this a very personal selection of music represnting the full spectrum of what encompasses chillout out music. What is also of note is that each artist only appears once on the album - a deliberate decision to showcase as many artists as possible.
Will there be another chillout playlist from me? If this receives enough positive feedback then I would certainly piece together another one; there is certainly enough strong tracks out there for that.
Enjoy, and please comment! - Phil
