Excellent, sign me up!
With pleasure. You'll need an amazingtunes.com profile and a PayPal Premier account (for individuals) or Business account – both of which are free and available here. PayPal is the most efficient and reliable system of making sure as much money as possible goes straight to you.
Stage 1 – Setting up PayPal
I already have a PayPal account.
Sweet! If it's not a PayPal Premier or Business account though, you'll need to upgrade. It's easily done by heading over to PayPal, logging into your account and clicking 'upgrade.' If you already have a Premier or Business account, you're my favourite reader so far. Skip straight to Stage 2.
I don't have a PayPal Account.
Head over to PayPal and choose either a Premier or Business account. The guys at PayPal will take you through the simple process. Once you're done, jump to Stage 2 and we'll get your amazingtunes.com profile hooked up and you can start receiving money.
Can I do it later?
Sure. You can go ahead and put your tracks up for sale on amazingtunes.com now. When you sell your first one we'll send you an email letting you know that you have money to collect and that PayPal are holding it under the email address you use for amazingtunes.com. We'll direct you to PayPal and it will be as simple as registering that email address.
Stage 2 – Set up on amazingtunes.com and get paid
I have an amazingtunes.com profile and a PayPal account. I'm good to go!
Good work. Now just go to your amazingtunes.com profile, click edit and enter your PayPal email into the 'artist payment' field. Be sure to confirm your PayPal email address or else you won't receive any money. Now all there is to do is count the pennies!
Sounds good. So the artist keeps everything?
Everything except PayPal's transaction charge which is typically 2.9% + 30c. This means that from a 79p download you'll keep 57p. If you apply for PayPal's Micro-Payments however you will incur a much lower fee and you'll keep 72p.
I like the sound of that. Tell me more…
If you're an artist selling downloads, it's definitely worth applying for the micropayments option on PayPal. Micro-Payments significantly lowers the transaction fee for products less than $10 (which – considering downloads are 79p – will usually apply to artists selling their music.)
I've got 16 bands/ I'm a label with multiple band accounts, can I use the same PayPal address across all of my profiles?
Yep, you can use a single PayPal address for as many different pages and accounts as you like. This address can be different to the address you used to register on amazingtunes.com and is simply the address associated with your PayPal account.
You can also, thanks to PayPal, add multiple e-mail address to a PayPal account at their end. So even if you do end up using different address on amazingtunes.com, or on other sites, via PayPal you can group them all together when earning funds.
Stage 3 – I'm a Fan
I'd like to buy some tunes, do I need PayPal too?
Nope, you don’t need a PayPal account to purchase music from amazingtunes.com – though you're welcome to pay via PayPal if you wish. In fact, very little will change for you when buying music - besides that warm, positive feeling inside getting warmer and more positive.
My Basket has gone! Give it back…
Previously, you could use your Shopping Basket to collect tunes from different artists before you then purchased the music. However, now you are buying music directly from the artist. This is great news for the artist, but this does mean that you will pay for each tune or collection individually. If you want to collate a number of tracks from the same or different artists to purchase at a later date just create a playlist.
