P.S. are a multi-instrumentalist duo who use a combination of acoustic, electric and software based instruments to bring to their audiences a unique blend of music. Performing their own material as well as adaptations of old classics and chart toppers, they produce a professional full sound that still has that raw talent, “real music” feel to it. Live performances evolve seamlessly from soothing acoustic melodies to a stomping full band sound, making use of looping devices to build up many layers that are all created live on stage.
Currently P.S. are in the process of writing new material, with the hope of recording their debut album later this year. However, for a taste of what’s come before, they’ve released a solely acoustic EP entitled “Acoustic Begginings” which can be downloaded free from various sites.
Alex Piggins and Tom Sturges are the musicians who make up P.S. Tom (or Sturges) takes the role of lead instrumentalist with sparse attempts at backing vocals. His musical adventure began with tinkling’s of the keys no sooner than he could clamber up the piano stool, and have since encompassed guitar, bass, saxophone, harmonica and the odd bongo or two. Caught between a love of too many instruments and genres, Sturges is now trying to bring the best of it all to P.S. Alex (or Piggy) appropriately takes the role of lead vocalist, as he never stops singing and strumming, on or off the stage. Piggy also started with the piano, but since the age of 14 and his discovery of the guitar, has been cranking out incredibly catchy singer/songwriter songs, drawing inspiration from many places, but more often than not, they appear to be based around his romantic endeavours, the big cheese ball.
P.S. began as a jam session, but the duo realised they had a lot more to offer and could really develop their own sound. After the success of their debut performance at the well known Mama Stones, Alex and Tom decided to knuckle down and work towards bringing something truly fresh and unique to the music scene. So stay tuned for the release of their debut album, and for the mean time you’ll hopefully find something you like in their EP.
