Cosmo Sheldrake, the prodigiously talented and profoundly unique 27-year-old singer, songwriter, composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist from London, has announced details of a new single, Come Along, which is released on Transgressive Records on Friday 13th October. His first new release in almost 3 years, the track, co-produced and mixed by electronic music auteur Matthew Herbert, is a suitably epic re-introduction to Sheldrake’s sprawling and accomplished musical ambition. “That song began when I decided to make the most preposterously over-the-top introduction that I could,” he says. “I made this ridiculously grandiose beginning, and then it developed from there into the song as it is now.” Written under the influence of a diverse group of musicians ranging from The Beatles and The Kinks to Moondog and Stravinsky, the record was also shaped by a trip to Mardi Gras in New Orleans and after composing the music at home, Sheldrake decamped to east London’s analogue Soup Studios to work and complete the recording. Finally, having recently toured alongside Mr Jukes, and a performance with Matthew Herbert at his Barbican show on October 23rd pending, Cosmo has announced a run of headline gigs and support slots with Johnny Flynn later in the autumn.
