Bryony Dunn is an emerging singer-songwriter based in the beautiful Surrey Hills. She loves Bon Iver, Fleetwood Mac, The Staves, Kate Bush, Gabrielle Aplin and ‘so many other amazing artists that all affect and influence my music’. Following a limited release of her well-received EP ‘Love And Other Weapons’, her debut single ‘Golden Girl’ will soon be released.
Bryony says ‘Since i could speak, I have sung’ and she began writing lyrics whilst still in primary school. Throughout her school years she studied Violin, Clarinet, Bass Guitar, Musical Theatre and Classical Singing.
Bryony : ‘Songwriting became part of my life while teaching myself to play the family out of tune piano and progressively I moved to Ukulele and then Guitar, which I write on mostly today. Bryony studied GCSE and A-Level Music and continued to University level, studying History and Music.
‘After a term I realised that I was barking up the wrong tree and decided to take some time to re-think and pursue a solo music career. Since then, I was accepted to be a member of the The Songwriting Academy working with multi-platinum selling songwriters such as Charlie Dore and Dominic King. It was at one of their song camps that my new single Golden Girl was written.’ Deals with Allied Songwriters/Notting Hill Music and Online Records soon followed.
As can be seen on her fun YouTube channel, Bryony definitely has a natural flair on stage and in front of the camera, having starred in a variety of student Musicals, playing roles like Reno in Anything Goes, Bombalurina in Cats, Killer Queen in We Will Rock You and Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods.
Now Bryony is focussing on her original music. ‘Golden Girl’, her song about celebrity, is released on November 3rd on Online Records. Having flown to Paris to film a stunning video for the single, the last word goes to Bryony ‘It’s been quite a ride so far, and I’m really excited to see what happens next!’.
