TUNE Billy Lockett - More
Billy Lockett delivers hauntingly beautiful new track in the shape of MORE
At just 25 years old and with accolades to his name including 1.6 million streams on Spotify, support slots with Lana del Ray and Birdy plus a sold-out UK tour, Billy Lockett returns with another intimate cut from his debut album.
Citing influences in the shape of the ethereal soundscapes of Bon Iver, London based pop duo Oh Wonder, and the electronic soul elements of a Chet Faker, Billy’s material is heart wrenchingly honest and raw. It’s the work of acclaimed Italian pianist and composer Ludovico Einaudi, who truly inspires Billy and motivated him to develop his piano style which he flawlessly executes today.
Following on from the release of debut EP ‘Burn It Down’, Billy was championed by BBC Introducing Northampton (his hometown), and follow up single ‘Wide Eyed’ secured him a coveted spot as Huw Stephens Tip of the Week (Radio 1), as well as support via Apple Music (Best of the Week playlist) and Tom Robinson (6Music).
Over the last 6 months Billy can boast 2 sold out London headline shows; with a full house at both St Pancras Old Church and The Forge, and has steadily been building an army of integral press support with tips from Notion, Clash, Hilly Dilly and The Telegraph amongst others. 2016 also saw Billy score and perform UK fashion designer Joshua Kane’s AW Catwalk Collection, after the designer personally approached him to collaborate upon hearing his music.
A fiercely personal and passionate body of work, Billy’s debut album promises to be a rich tapestry of sound which reflects his journey through his most pertinent times. Mixed by Mike Crossey - who boasts credits including The 1975, Arctic Monkeys, and Jake Bugg - ‘More’ is a record that is real, raw and wise beyond it’s years.
“More is one of the most dynamic songs I've written, I love how it starts as a vibe and explodes into an anthem”
