LOVE THE PAIN EP
On Worldwide Digital Release: 20th October 2014
East London born songwriter and producer JAGGA bust into our consciousness at the end of 2013 with his debut self released single 'Out of Control'. The song and video made quite an impact both in the UK and US, with support from The Guardian, Pigeons and Planes, Nylon magazine,BBC Radio 1 and Xfm amongst others.
JAGGA's mission statement is to make “powerful music” and so far he hasn’t disappointed, delivering the heart wrenching ‘Out Of Control’ and following up with the industrial, wild eyed sound of ‘Hold Me’ which The Line Of Best Fit hailed as “two of the strongest, most diverse tunes of 2013”
JAGGA is back with a long awaited four track Ep. Each track is like stepping into a different world but always completely arresting, demanding that you take notice. From Love The Pain with its brooding darkness to the almost joyful sound of Never Give It Away, and the brutality and aggression in the last track Maya, JAGGA is always equal parts light and dark. “I don't like my music to become formulaic so I'm always looking for new ways that I can develop and evolve my tracks and my vocal delivery, I want to leave people never knowing whats coming next"
All the tracks are written and produced by JAGGA with Additional production and mix by Liam Howe (FKA Twigs, Lana Del Rey, Tom Vek)
“The title track Love the pain is about being tied to something even though you know its not good for you but at the same time being so caught up in the drama of it that you can’t let it go. I never sit down to write and plan whats going to happen or want to create a particular genre. This track is drawing on a lot of influences from Hip Hop to house and who knows what else, when I was in production on it I was calling it the psychedelic church song because of the choral sounding falsetto and the distorted flute that runs through the track”
The video for Love The Pain was shot by Dominic O’Riordan, “Dominic is super talented as a director and has a great eye. He managed to pull in a really cool team of people to work on the video “When it came to discussing video ideas I thought that a bondage theme would be good. I did some research and came up with the idea of using the Japanese bondage/ art form Shibari, where a person is tied up in various poses and then suspended. Dominic then went away and threshed it out into a workable idea. I found Gestalta online, she’s an amazing rope artist who can tie and suspend herself, she’s one of the main features of the video”
The remix of the tittle track is by 9lives who is set to do big things in 2015.
