TUNE Giant Party - White Ink
Giant Party are a soul-splashed indie four piece based in London Town. On 19th January 2018 they release new single 'White Ink' via Label Fandango and a hectic, aggressive guitar driven number it is too. The new single builds upon their debut self-titled EP which was released in August 2017 and included the singles 'Ambulances', 'Tongue Tied Lightning' and 'Nighttalk' which were praised by the likes of Noisey, DIY Magazine, Elton John's Beats 1 Show, BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music to name a few, while being compared to the eclectic sounds of LCD Soundsystem, Twin Shadow, Blood Orange, Wild Beasts, Spandau Ballet, Future Islands, Grizzly Bear, TV On The Radio and even Phil Collins.
For Giant Party have perfected a sound which is living in the ‘80s but also alive to the thrilling pan-generic possibilities of the modern age. The live show is a smoothly genteel riot of fluorescent lights and fluid lithe grooves, embodied by a guitarist throwing around a Spandau Ballet fringe and a singer rolling around the stage amidst the shocking pinks and luminous lime greens. Far from any throwback tribute act however, Giant Party behave like an already-excellent alt.rock band who have just discovered the silky delights of Top Of The Pops circa 1982. It's a live show that takes the audience a journey, a journey where you never quite know what is around the next corner.
It’s been a knowingly nonchalant development thus far: in October 2016 Giant Party snuck out ‘Where Have You Been?’, a do-it-yourself release which DIY Magazine compared to Wild Beasts and Field Music while opining: “There’s a constant threat that something sinister lurks around the corner – always a bonus in the stakes of a crafty, creepy pop song.” Springtime 2017 saw the band release their first single on Label Fandango ‘Ambulances’ which was championed by Elton John on his Beast 1 'Rocket Hour' show, while they took the live arena by storm playing shows around the UK as well as festivals such as The Great Escape and Bestival, packing out venues with their captivating live show, shocking pink lights and all. Their second single 'Tongue Tied Lightning' followed and was premiered by Noisey on 5th July, while picking up radio play on Virgin and BBC Introducing. 'Nighttalk was the final single to come from their self-titled EP back in August 2017, the track gained support from Huw Stephens on BBC Radio 1 and Steve Lamacq on BBC 6 Music as well as DIY Magazine.
The band kick off 2018 with new single 'White Ink', a track which shows off a different side to the band compared to previous efforts and is a firm fan favorite within the live show. Giant Party will be busy touring throughout 2018, kicking off at The Old Blue Last on Fri 12 January for Pandamonium Festival.
