I grew up in the music business, on tour with my Dad Eddie Curtis and I'm better known for my working Swing Orchestra 'The Debbie Curtis Radio Big Band'
All these tracks were recorded 'Analogue' on good old 2" tape, so what you hear is what was played, no tricks apart from some drum track parts 'no sequencers', no computers, just us and the record button!
Recorded at: My Studio - Amersham, The Chocolate Factory - New Cross, London, Jackson Music - Maple Cross, Woodcray Studios - Wokingham, Mixed at The Chocolate Factory by Chris Baker & Nigel Browning.
My dad: Eddie Curtis and many others! I've also been influenced by many male and female artists. In early days Alvin Lee of Ten Years After played guitar on demos I did with bassist Mike Patto Jnr whose dad was in Boxer and Spooky Tooth. These demos were of my first ever band Platinum Blonde, and Alvin's playing just blew me away, he can make any guitar sing, whatever its quality or condition! Big Band Jazz and Swing is what I grew up with, because of my Dad, my mum was also a professional singer. What they listened to and worked on was a big influence. There's some reggae influences too in some of my other material, I'm told I have an almost 60's innocence in some of my writing, but I'm far from innocent, as anyone who knows me will tell you! To be honest I love music, pop, jazz, rock, soul, blues, swing, rap, techno, thrash, heavy etc etc, but most of all, I love real musicians, I loathe the current 'Karaoke' trend of singers backed by producers and their software, real musicians, real bands, real talent, that's what influences me most!
