NAME DISCLAIMER: "Contrary to popular belief (Greg & Burtt!) the name sKuff was derived not from a certain “plant crystal” as would be found using Google! But the visual incarnation of my works which are not “over-polished” hence “scuffed” crossed with some mild dyslexia!"
or is it!?!? Well I'll let
You decide! ;)
I started out making music when I was 13, playing drums and writing songs (not drum songs or songs about drums...). As I grew older my taste in music changed and I became increasingly interested in recording and producing music.
I went to College and did a music technology A-Level, loved it so much I followed it up at Leeds Met Uni/ Leeds College of Music (2000-2003) doing a Music Technology Degree and got a 2.1 BSc Honours Degree.
During my time as a student I also got into ambient electronica and started experimenting with software and hardware to make tunes that I liked.
I tried a couple of times to get signed, had some really positive feedback from Good Looking Records but nothing else...
Then in 2002 got signed to a small independent record label in Texas, USA. (Crazy Fungus Records) and released my debut album under the artist name sKuff entitled * saved-for-a-rainy-day *. It sold out. –Great! - Ok so you got me... My mum bought all 10 copies!!!! -was it that obvious!?
I have done a number of collaborations and recently Shizu sang Yasashii Kimochi at a wedding in Japan (as the first dance!) Possibly the finest accolade an artist could have? Ok maybe not finest, but certainly one not many people will have! I have just uploaded it so have a listen and tell me what you think! :)
Since then I have just been making music as a hobby, trying to make it in any spare moment in my busy life!
