TUNE Ojerime - Empty
South London based singer/songwriter Ojerime returns with her unique brand of dark, melancholic R&B in the shape of new track ‘Empty’ produced by Mansur Brown. Encompassing a bass-heavy framework with melodic guitar riffs, the track showcases Ojerime’s smooth vocal as the lyricism tackles a deeply personal notion.
Speaking on the track Ojerime said: “Empty' is a freestyle about being drained in every area of life, from friendships, career and love life. I offload all of this in a convoluted way because I'm going through so many emotions when writing this. The lyrics are relatable but the overall message is quite cryptic and personal to me.”
‘Empty’ is a welcomed return for a deeply adept artist who has been putting her own stamp on contemporary R&B since the release of her debut EP ‘The Silhouette’ back in 2015. Out of a Brockley based bedroom has emerged a smoky, dynamic vocalist, inspired by nostalgic R&B and electro and sitting sonically alongside the likes of Aaliyah, Brandy or Destiny’s Child but with a unique UK twist. Her experiences of sexuality, depression and genderism comprise the fabric of her sound and are themes explored further than ever on her forthcoming music.
Make way for Ojerime, who’s soul-baring, dreamlike R&B is ready to take centre stage.
